IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The Cystinosis Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 contribution in honor of 2 year old Jack Greeley. This generous donation was made by Make A Difference (MAD), a charitable organization that raises funds for children with special needs. MAD holds an annual golf tournament every July with approximately 150 participants contributing towards the fundraising goal and to date have raised over $170,000 for children's health causes.

Jaimie and Jill GeorgesonTen years ago husband and wife Jamie and Jill Georgeson founded (MAD) after their cousin had a kidney transplant. "We learned a lot about dialysis and saw children spending so much time in bed and we wanted to do something to help. Initially we started MAD in honor of a child who was my cousin's roommate in the hospital. We started out with a very small golf tournament and every year it has grown. This year there are more than 150 participants," explains Jamie Georgeson.

Since the inception of the tournament, Jamie and Jill have started their family and now have four children. Jamie works in the Computer Technology field and is Senior VP, WorldWide Sales with Expand Networks. His job requires a lot of international travel. Jill is no longer involved with tournament planning, but two dozen volunteers help Jamie make it all happen.

MAD continues the tradition of making a difference today. When the Georgeson's friend, Dave Greeley , was informed that his young son Jack has cystinosis, he shared this with the Georgesons. As a result, a portion of the funds raised at the golf tournament was donated to the Cystinosis Foundation to support further research by Dr. Jess Thoene, Tulane University. The Check was presented to Dr. Thoene by Chef Paul ProdhommeDr. Thoene's lab at Tulane Health Sciences Center

The Cystinosis Foundation is appreciative of the Georgeson's hard work and generosity and their conviction that people can make a difference.
