Maple River School did a couple fundraisers to for Cystinosis this year. The Serteen group which is the Sertoma group for high school kids had a "pie in the face" contest for the teachers. Students put money in the teachers' jars during the week. Then on Friday,February 14, they counted which teachers had the most money. The choir teacher won, Principal Stowell 2nd and Holly Reuter (me) 3rd. The teachers then had an opportunity to buy out if they gave a matching amount of money. The choir teacher took his pie. All of the other teachers bought out the first round. The second round, the teachers had to double the amount to buy out. Principal Stowell took his pie and I took my pie also. As part of the fundraiser, the serteen group auctioned off who got to throw the pie. Altogether, they raised $441 for Cystinosis!
