I would like to give some encouragement to the parents or anyone waiting for a kidney transplant. My daughter Virginia was diagnosed with Cystinosis before she was 1 year of age. This was 1963. She was given a life expectancy of 10 years. When she was 12 she only weighed 36 pounds. A kidney became available from a cadaver in 1975. The operation was a huge success and Virginia had a good life for 21 years. When she died in 1996 the transplant was still working perfectly, her death was nothing to do with any renal problems. If I could give any other help or information to any one please let me know.
